Friends and family visiting St Denis Lodge…

We believe residents should be able to enjoy contact from friends and family at all times and for this reason visiting is totally unrestricted. In some cases accommodation can be made available for families. Alternatively there is a nearby hotel, which is only two minutes walk away.

Feeling at home at St Denis Lodge

We have a bright and spacious orangery for our residents to relax in and take in the views of the garden.

Our lounge and dining area are comfortable and welcoming and can be used throughout the day by residents and their visitors. Our spacious, en-suite rooms are bright and airy with plenty of sunlight and lovely countryside views. Rooms can be accessed by one of our two lifts giving level access throughout the home. We also have a 24-hour nurse call system in each room for the reassurance of our residents.

When St Denis Lodge was converted, great care was taken to incorporate modern facilities and level access whilst maintaining the character and elegance of the original building. All rooms have en-suite facilities and can be adapted to meet individual requirements. There are television and telephone points in every room, there is free wifi and sky is available on request. Residents are invited to furnish their rooms with personal items from furniture to pictures and ornaments if they so wish.

Washing and ironing are all taken care of by our laundry assistants and rooms are cleaned regularly by our domestic staff. We always respect privacy and residents can lock their rooms if desired.

Our sitting room, dining room and orangery overlook the garden and because they are south facing, they enjoy natural light and warm sunshine. There is a pathway around the garden with pergolas and seating areas so that residents can take in the atmosphere, whether they are walking or sitting.

Living at St Denis Lodge

Residents have absolute choice of what they do with their time. We have plenty of activities that are organised and these vary depending on the wishes and interests of our residents. We like to encourage and support our residents so that they feel able to join in when, and if, they wish.

For the body – We have regular exercise classes with specialist trained instructors, geared towards individual capabilities. We also have regular visits from a chiropodist, dentist, masseuse, optician, hairdresser and beautician who will take appointments in our own salon. This list can be added to on request!

For enjoyment – We organise activities outside of St Denis Lodge, including day time shopping, sight-seeing trips and visits to the theatre. There are also various social gatherings, coffee mornings, musical afternoons and charity fund raising events.

For an active mind
We have access to the local library, a constant supply of newspapers and periodicals, interesting speakers to visit and plenty of games. These include crosswords (which are sometimes embarked upon in a group!), quizzes, board games such as scrabble and cards. For the artistic there are drawing, painting, knitting and sewing groups.

For spirituality
As well as visits to nearby churches, a clergyman visits once a month to take communion and speak with residents individually if they wish. There is liaison with the churches in our area at all times.

For gardeners
Our gardens are especially designed to be used by our residents. Special features include a circular level path around the garden that leads to a raised bed for easy access by residents. There are bird tables, sculptures and a wealth of different shrubs and trees to attract wildlife. Our gardener welcomes everyone’s help whatever their level of experience – we understand that many active gardeners will have left their lovingly tended gardens. We encourage people to offer advice and share knowledge so that they become an important part of their new natural surroundings!
